What and When Is Money Smart Week?​​​​​​

Money Smart Week will be April 4-11, 2020. 

Participate in Money Smart Week, a national initiative in its eighth year between the ALA and the Federal Reserve Bank (Chicago) to provide financial literacy programming to help members of your community better manage their personal finances. Libraries of all types can and do participate, providing programming for all ages and all stages of life on topics such as: basic budgeting; managing student debt; retirement planning; home purchasing; saving money through couponing; and how to prevent identity theft.

In 2019, over 1000 public, academic, school, prison, and other libraries in 50 states participated. So mark your calendars to participate in 2020!

Money Smart Week Webinar for Librarians 

Each year in late October or early November the ALA Chapter Relations Office hosts a free Money Smart Week webinar. The free Money Smart Week webinar to prepare for 2020 Money Smart Week, April 4 -11, 2020 was held November 21, 2019. Learn from veteran MSWeekers how Money Smart Week has been a great success for their libraries, and how it can be in yours. Get valuable programming and promotion ideas, tips on possible partners, and resources that make it easy for you. The recording is available here and the slide deck can be found by clicking here.

Financial literacy is important to all communities, and libraries—of all types—can be part of the solution. Through Money Smart Week, you can join hundreds of other libraries across the country helping individuals to better manage their personal finances. Money Smart Week is for all types of libraries- academic, public, school, prison, corporate! Join the hundreds of libraries across the country that participate in Money Smart Week, April 4 -11, 2020!

Learn how easy it is for you to participate April 4-11, 2020! Get valuable programming and promotion ideas, tips on possible partners, and resources that make it easy for you. The webinar will feature the new website and initiatives such as Money Smart Week Kids Read, Geocache for Colleges, and more.

Money Smart Week is a partnership between ALA and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and other national champions, and libraries to provide financial literacy programming for all stages of life (e.g., college students)
